Join Annie Warmke—longtime creator of innovative, community‑centered projects—as she shares how she pivoted from Blue Rock Station Sustainability Center and Farm to establishing Warmke Farm’s first urban food forest garden in the spring of 2023. What began as a 30' x 70' lot has now grown: in 2026 Annie added a new forest floor on the 30' x 60' lot next door to begin expansion of the original garden’s footprint and purpose.
Today, that first garden serves as the propagation stock for Warmke Farm’s urban food forest business, supplying plants to neighborhood yards and the Chesterhill Produce Auction. Annie is also reaching out to test selling at two different events. Her work has created a living classroom, a seed bank, and a model for how small urban spaces can grow big ecological change.
The hour‑long tour wraps up with a cup of tea and a hands‑on demonstration of elderberry and fig propagation. Visitors will be able to try the process themselves and take home a starter kit to grow their own plant. Plants, seeds, and dried medicinal and culinary herbs will be available for purchase, and guests may also place orders for the 2027 spring season. GOAL: The time together serves to celebrate Ohio’s living soil by sharing what works to restore, protect, and grow resilient urban forest gardens from the ground up.
